Four Seasons of Health

Throughout nature it is apparent that species will
change their behaviours/diet based on the season
that they are in. Bears and other hibernating
animals prepare for the winter by eating more food

to store as fat, birds migrate in the fall, and humans...well humans
seem to continue what they are doing like nothing has changed!

The fact is, as the earth shifts into different seasons, our behaviours,
nutrition, and outlook on health should change as well. In the spring

there are outbreaks of allergies, and the gloomy nature of the rain and clouds can add to
the increased depression. Knowing this, it would make sense for doctors and patients to
focus more on these areas of concern in the spring. In the summer our health shifts to
UV ray damage, heatstroke, and dehydration, whereas the winter brings about problems
of the flu, weight gain, and dry skin. Fall also has its own setof particular concerns,
vaccines, migraines, and digestive issues being some of them. If we as a society are
going to be serious about health we need to strike to adapt with each season – let’s
change with change!
